All Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup White Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Baking Soda (Bi-Carb Soda)
  • 10 drops essential oil
  • 500 ml water

You'll need a bowl and a spray bottle

In a bowl, mix the ingredients well and transfer to a spray bottle. Shake before spraying onto countertops, mirrors, windows, stoves and just about every other surface in your home. The combination of vinegar and baking soda will make short work of dirt while the essential oil will give it that pleasing aroma.

 

Tile Cleaner

Banish grease from your kitchen tiles and soap scum from the bathroom floor and shower! This solution will make your tiles sparkle.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Baking Soda (Bi-Carb Soda)
  • Some Castile Soap
  • 10 drops of essential oil
  • Water
  • Lemon (sliced in half)

Mix baking soda, castile soap, and essential oil in a 500mlspray bottle and top it up with water. Spray on tiled areas and let it dwell for 10-15 minutes. Use the sliced lemon as a sponge to scrub and agitate the solution into the tile. Rinse with water and wipe with a clean cloth to dry.

 

Grout Cleaner

People tend to resort to bleach when cleaning grungy grout lines. But bleach is strong stuff and can cause rashes, burns and other skin ailments. It can also change the colour of your grout lines as it zaps out any colour that’s supposed to be there, often leaving a blotchy look. With this solution, you'll never reach for bleach ever again. Here's how to do it:

Ingredients:

  • Baking soda (Bi-Carb Soda)
  • 1 cup White Vinegar
  • 1 cup Water

Mix one cup of water with a cup of vinegar in a spray bottle. Sprinkle a bit of baking soda on the grout lines and spray with the water and vinegar solution. Brush with a toothbrush as soon as you see bubbling. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Furniture Cleaner

  • 10 drops Pure Lemon Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice

Mix 10 drops of pure lemon oil, 2 tablespoon of lemon juice and a few drops of olive oil in a spray bottle and top it up with water. Shake well and spray it on your furniture. Let it sit for a few minutes then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth. Dust and dirt will disappear right before your eyes.

 

Toilet Cleaner

It doesn't take a degree in rocket science to know how important it is to clean and disinfect toilets. Get rid of stinky odours and prevent bacteria from breeding with this simple solution.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Baking Soda (Bi-Carb Soda)
  • 1 cup White Vinegar
  • ½ Tsp Tea Tree Oil

Mix the vinegar and tea tree oil in a spray bottle and spray generously inside the bowl, lid and toilet seat. Let the solution sit for 15-20 minutes. Dump the baking soda in the bowl and as soon as it starts bubbling, scrub with a toilet brush in and around the toilet bowl. This will give you a fresh, clean toilet free from clogs.

Disinfectant Spray

Keep your cash and refrain from chemically laden disinfectant sprays that may cause more harm than good. Here's a fantastic solution that works just as well.

Ingredients:

  • 250 ml water
  • 250 ml rubbing alcohol (such as Isocol)
  • 15 drops lemon essential oil
  • 15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 15 drops rosemary essential oil

Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle for use on doorknobs, tables, seats, and even kids' toys! The best part is that you don't have to wipe and just let the solution dry on its own.
